Domestic violence is not only physical — it can also be economic, sexual, or psychological (for example: inducing guilt, restricting access to one’s own money, or forcing someone into sexual acts).
Only the abuser is responsible for domestic violence. Abusers often shift the blame, claiming they were provoked. Violence is an unlawful act that has no justification, because any situation can be resolved without violence.
Important to know: Since 2019, domestic violence has been a criminal offense in Ukraine.
